The third edition of the international gathering looked at the role and importance of chess in education from a new perspective and presented innovative new methods, tools and results for its use. This year’s central theme was DECISION-MAKING and EDUCATION. Presentations and round table discussions covered topics such as the relationship between artificial intelligence and modern education, the growth mindset and the developmental role of chess in early childhood.
The patron of the event was Dana Reizniece-Ozola, former Latvian Minister of Finance and currently Deputy Chair of FIDE’s Management Board. The speakers were renowned international and national experts who have made a significant contribution to the promotion of chess in kindergartens and schools. They have introduced chess to tens of thousands of children and has helped to train thousands of teachers and trainers. Speakers included Barry Hymer, Professor of Psychology in Education at the University of Cumbria (UK), Shameed Sait, artificial intelligence expert (United Arab Emirates), Éva Gyarmathy, psychologist and senior research fellow at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (Hungary), Anzel Laubscher, lawyer and educational consultant (South Africa). The conference was hosted by Leontxo García, chess journalist and education expert, and Judit Polgár, Ambassador for Chess Education.
