JPCF and FIDE: Changemakers at the 4th Educational Chess Summit

The Judit Polgar Chess Foundation is proud to have hosted the 4th Educational Chess Summit in partnership with the International Chess Federation (FIDE) in Budapest. This extraordinary gathering brought together international educators, chess enthusiasts, and innovators to explore how chess can enhance education worldwide.

Held in alignment with the 10th Global Chess Festival and the 45th Chess Olympiad, the Educational Chess Summit highlighted the profound synergy between chess and learning. Experts and stakeholders from diverse backgrounds convened to discuss innovative ways chess can inspire intellectual and emotional growth in learners of all ages.

Our partnership with FIDE’s EDU Commission has been crucial in advancing our shared vision of integrating chess into educational curricula globally. Through their support, the summit offered a platform for exchanging ideas, sharing best practices, and showcasing successful initiatives from around the world—featuring more than 20 speakers.

A key highlight of the summit was its demonstration of chess’s power for all ages. Speakers from over 15 countries—including South Africa, the United States, Spain, Romania, and others—explored how chess can develop cognitive skills, nurture critical thinking, and promote social inclusion. The event also celebrated the role of chess in empowering young minds and building future leaders.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to FIDE’s EDU Commission for their unwavering commitment to educational innovation and for their dedication to advancing chess. Together, we continue working toward a world where chess serves as a universal language of education and empowerment.
