HISTORY

The Judit Polgar Chess Foundation was founded in 2012 by the greatest female chess player in the history of chess, Judit Polgar. When the foundation was created, our goal was to promote chess in Hungary and internationally, to discuss equal opportunities, and to produce innovative teaching materials in which chess appears as a tool for skill development. Our basic goals formulated more than a decade ago have not changed, but the areas of activities have expanded.

  • We are proud that more than 4,000 teachers have completed our training since the foundation’s inception, and that our educational programs, methods and tools are used worldwide in the education of more than 50,000 children in public and private institutions.
  • We are proud that at our on-site and online events, we have showcased to hundreds of thousands of children and adults worldwide the versatility of chess and the responsible, practical thinking it fosters.
  • We are proud to have supported the professional development of many young chess players.
  • We are proud of the awards we have received and our international collaborations.
